The purpose of this workshop is to carry out a study of the city of Barcelona using the photographic image as an instrument for reflection, analysis and communication. The workshop will focus on the perception of the city through the image, static and animated, using photography and video techniques. The visual representation of the city will capture its physical, symbolic and spatial structure; the iconic objects and the anonymous architecture; the recognized places and the characterless suburbs; the movement and life of the streetscapes; and the bordering areas where the city blends with other structures. A series of daily activities will be carried out during the week from September 3 rd to 5th 2012, with the participation of architecture students of the University of Southern California. The workshop will enable the students to construct a collaborative view of the city, creating a theoretical discourse on the contemporary city created from the perceiving the city through the camera.
